The Government ended the shielding scheme on 1st August 2020. I know that this was distressing and confusing for many from clinically vulnerable residents who felt that it was still not safe to be out in the community. It is concerning that while restrictions have been tightened up in many areas across the country, there is still no new guidance or support for people who are clinically extremely vulnerable.
Our local councils and charities are continuing to provide support wherever possible. Southwark Council has set up a dedicated contact line for vulnerable residents which can be reached on 020 7527 5000 or by emailing [email protected]
Lambeth Council’s dedicated line can be reached on 0333 360 3700. Lambeth residents can also access support by emailing [email protected]. Both helplines are open from Monday to Friday between 9am and 5pm.
If you are in financial difficulty or in urgent need of food or housing, please do contact me at [email protected] or by calling 0207 219 6971, and I will do my best to refer you to local support.
