Fair taxes, tackle the cost of living crisis and cut the deficit every year

Time after time, local residents and small businesses raise the issue of fair taxes when they meet Labour's candidate Helen Hayes.

A Labour government will deliver fair taxes for individuals and local businesses, tackling the huge inequities left by the coalition government.

Under the Tories and Lib Dems, taxes for the highest earners have been cut while hard-working people on the lowest incomes have seen VAT increased and their taxes rise, making it harder to make ends meet.

Local small businesses are frustrated that they work hard and pay their taxes while too many big companies are allowed to get away with not paying their fair share. A Labour government will deliver fair taxes for both individuals and businesses.

Labour will reverse the cut in income tax for those earning more than £150,000 a year, crack down on tax evasion and avoidance by big business, and cut business rates for small businesses

Freezing Energy Prices

Labour will freeze gas and electricity bills until 2017 to stop runaway bills hitting local families.

Under the Tories, energy bills have rocketed by £300 – putting even more pressure on household budgets. This is because, unlike Labour, David Cameron refuses to stand up to the big energy companies.

The energy market isn’t working for hard working families and small businesses. Labour will bring in a tough new energy watchdog to make sure customers get a better deal in future and regulate the market.

25 Hours of free childcare with Labour

Under the Tories, the cost of childcare has risen by a shocking 30 per cent. Many parents in Dulwich and West Norwood are now being priced out of work by the cost of childcare.

Labour will provide 25 hours free childcare each week to working parents of 3 and 4 year olds.

Every primary school in our area will provide childcare from 8am-6pm each day to help parents balance work and family life.
